General:
Perennial herb from a more or less spherical underground corm bearing fibrous roots, the corm 1-1.5 cm wide; stems erect, simple, solitary, whitish, slender below ground, 4-15 cm tall.
Leaves:
Basal leaves 1-2 arising from the corm, elliptic to oblong, 2-6 cm long, 0.4-0.8 cm wide; stem leaves narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate or narrowly oblong, 1.5-6 cm long.
Flowers:
Inflorescence a round-topped raceme with 3-8 flowers on stalks 5-28 mm long, with one bract subtending the lowermost flower; petals white or pink, fused at the base, 9-15 mm long; sepals 4-7 mm long.
Fruits:
Capsules, 4-6 mm long; seeds 2-6, reddish-brown, 2 mm long.
